Academy Exit Process

The length of time an academy stays with Falcon will vary depending upon the precise nature of their bespoke support plan and the time it takes to secure the school’s future – some schools may be with us for a very short period of time, and some may be with us for much longer so that we can provide the stability and sustainability of improvement they may require.

In each case, Falcon will work closely with the Department for Education (DfE) to agree on a set of Key Performance Indicators and/or Definitive Actions to be achieved or carried out prior to consideration of an academy moving on to another academy trust which will be its permanent home.

At the point of readiness, Falcon will hand over to the DfE to then consider possible forwarding options. Falcon itself does not influence which standard operating trust an academy may join as it continues its journey. The future home for a school as it exits will be influenced by capacity in the area at the point of readiness, along with the nature of the school and the improvements it may still need to make.

Regardless of the length of time it takes to get to exit point, the same can be said for all schools within Falcon, in that we will ensure that the onward journey for a school is as straightforward as possible. Due the detailed due diligence undertaken at the start of our involvement with an academy and the way in which we project manage a school’s improvement journey with us, this ensures that comprehensive information is available to support the process of moving on, making things swift and relatively straightforward. Schools will undoubtedly be in a much stronger position when they leave us than when they joined us.
